Henna brows are a form of eyebrow tinting that is used to stain the skin beneath the brow hairs with a semi permanent henna dye that is formulated to match your skin and natural hair type. The purpose of this is to create a natural illusion of depth and fullness in the brows.
Henna is a natural dye made from a plant known as Hina or the Henna tree. It has been around since ancient Egypt, where it was used for many purposes such as hair dye, body art, make-up, and a colorant of clothes & fabrics.
The process for henna brows is very similar to henna colouring methods you may see in traditional Indian culture, however the shades have been formulated to cater for eyebrow tones and takes about a 30 minute appointment.
You can go it alone with just the henna or a better option is to sculpt your brow line into a desirable shape via wax and/or tweezing, and then select a suitable henna shade to apply for the colouring.
Henna powder and demineralised water are mixed together to create a paste, which is then applied through the shape of your eyebrows and allowed to soak into the skin for 10-15 minutes.
Henna is a safe and natural alternative to other semi permanent tints and dyes. It is vegan friendly and free from peroxide activators, making it a suitable option for anyone with sensitive skin. This is a more natural and cleaner tint that regular tints alone.
Because henna has stronger permeability and absorption than traditional tints, the results will last longer. Henna stains the skin, so the brows will appear richer and more fuller.
This is a great treatment for women that have sparse or uneven brows due to aging, hormones, or over tweezing/waxing.
It is also a good stepping stone to more permanent eyebrow procedures where women want better definition but are not quite ready to dive into a serious method of tattooing or micro-blading.
Henna brows typically last between 2-4 weeks, but it’s dependant on your skin type. If you have a dryer complexion, henna brows will tend to last a bit longer, skin absorbs colour better than they would on someone with an oilier complexion.
To maintain them for as long as possible, it is important to not over-wash your face or brow area.
